Henry Charles Usher has retained his position as Minister of Public Service and Disaster Risk Management, following a second round of Cabinet portfolio deliberations that unfolded over the past several days. According to information that surfaced on Friday, Usher played a pivotal role in triggering the latest adjustments when he made it clear to Prime Minister John Briceño that he preferred to continue overseeing the public service rather than assume leadership of the Home Affairs and Enterprise portfolio, which had been assigned to him last Tuesday. By this afternoon, Usher’s request was granted and confirmed. The Prime Minister noted that while the reshuffling process seeks to maximize leadership strengths across ministries, he agreed that Usher’s continued stewardship in the public service would best serve the administration’s priorities at this time.
With the adjustment now settled, Usher will continue guiding key initiatives in public sector modernization and disaster risk readiness, while the Home Affairs and Enterprise portfolio goes to Minister Oscar Mira.
