Henry keeps Signal Hill perfect in Tobago Girls’ SSFL

A lone strike from Gloria Henry earned joint national Secondary School Girls Football League ‘Big Five’ winners Signal Hill Secondary a 1-0 win over longtime rival Scarborough Secondary in the Tobago Zone Championship Division on Sunday.

With the win at the Shaw Park Sporting Complex, Signal Hill moved to a maximum of 12 points, three more than Scarborough Secondary, who suffered their first defeat after three straight wins to start the season as well.

Also on Sunday, Speyside Secondary got a hat-trick from J’naya Gray and one each via Terrysha Harry, Aarencia Orr, and Tyara McKenna, and an own goal via Tia Roberts to trounce Mason Hall Secondary 7-1, with Kafiya Trim conceding an own goal as well for the losers’ tally at Speyside Recreation Ground.

At Mt St George Ground, Bishops High School blanked Goodwood Secondary, inspired by a hat-trick from Anika Hector and a double from Kcey Reid, while Kerriscia Hurst also netted.

International School wins third straight in North

Khloe Kirton banged in four goals to fire the International School of Port-of-Spain to an 8-0 blowout of East Mucurapo Secondary for their third win on the trot in the North Zone.

The quartet of Ashley Ribeiro, Sophie Rostant, Lexi Sankarsingh, and Mia Medina-Singh chipped in with one goal each for ISPoS to climb to a maximum of nine points at St Mary’s College Ground, Serpentine Road, St Clair, on Sunday, the same as defending champions St Joseph’s Convent (PoS), who recorded a 4-1 whipping of Holy Name Convent (PoS) at Fatima College Ground, Mucurapo Road, ed by a double from Sydney Pollard.

Scarlett Cole and Kara Cooper were also on target for St Joseph’s Convent, while Holy Name Convent (PoS) got a consolation effort through Cristina Harragin.

At Diego Martin Central, the host whipped Tranquillity Secondary 3-1 behind two goals from Kyanna Isaac and the other by Deija Khan to cancel out D’Kirah McFarlane’s reply.

Holy Faith Convent rallies past Carapichaima West

Holy Faith Convent was made to come from a goal down to beat Carapichaima West 2-1 and maintain their 100 percent winning record in the Central Zone.

Isabel Toussaint had given Carapichaima West a 1-0 lead with her tenth goal in two matches, only for Zalika Mahadeo to draw Holy Faith Convent (Couva) level from the penalty spot before Crista Joseph’s free kick sealed the comeback win, their third from as many matches.

In the other match, the other half of the Toussaint sisters, Aliyah scored all six goals to carry her haul to 15 in two outings as Chaguanas South Secondary hammered Cunupia Secondary 6-0.

Five Rivers, St Augustine, continue goalspree in East

Five Rivers Secondary and St Augustine Secondary both won for the third time in four matches via commanding double-digit margins over Bishop’s Anstey High School East and San Juan South Secondary, respectively.

At Trincity, Five Rivers Secondary overcame an early deficit in the first minute through Meagan Cromwell to punish host Bishop’s Anstey High School East 12-1, led by a beaver-trick from Hackeemar Goodridge in the 16th, 18th, 20th, and 47th minutes and a hat-trick off the boot of Jayda Herbert in the 6th, 51st, and 59th on a return from a one-match suspension.

Ahmeeda Bowman chipped in with a pair of goals for Five Rivers in the 24th and 34th minutes, while Cataliya Revello (38th) and Bryanna Vesprey (60th) also added one each, together with a late own goal from Hannah Seepersad in the 65th.

With the win, Five Rivers Secondary now has ten points from four matches, the same as rivals St. Augustine Secondary, who mauled San Juan South Secondary 13-0.
