Highest Billboard Reggae Albums Chart Debuts Over The Last Two Years

The Billboard Reggae Albums Chart has welcomed nearly two dozen debuts over the past two years, with American reggae acts and Jamaican dancehall and reggae artists competing for some of the strongest opening positions on the ranking.

In 2025, 11 albums made their first appearance on the chart, with Jamaican artists responsible for six, or 55%, of the year’s debuts. American acts accounted for four, or 36%, while one release came from the UK.

Leading the class of 2025 was American reggae band Stick Figure, whose Free Flow Sessions debuted at No. 2, the highest Reggae Albums debut of the year. Sister Nancy, the only woman to debut in two years on the chart, followed with her 1982 debut album One, Two, which entered at No. 3, while Chronixx’s sophomore album Exile debuted at No. 5.

Jamaica had six of the 11 entries in 2025 with Peter Tosh, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Vybz Kartel and Armanii, also adding to the tally. While the American contingent included also included Bumpin Uglies, The Movement and Fiji. The English Beat represented the UK.

So far, 2026 has produced nine debuts, with Masicka emerging as the year’s highest new entry.

His third studio album, Forever Reign, arrived at No. 4 on the chart dated August 29, giving the Jamaican dancehall star the highest debut of any album on the Reggae Albums Chart in 2026 so far. It surpassed The Elovaters’ Shark Belly Motel, which had previously held the year’s lead after entering at No. 5 in May.

For the chart dated September 5, Tampa based artists DESTIN CONRAD joined Masicka and The Elovaters among 2026’s highest debuts when ROWDYRUNNER entered at No. 5. It became the ninth album to make its Billboard Reggae Albums Chart debut during 2026. Masicka’s Forever Reign, meanwhile, remained on the chart for a second week at No. 9.

Vybz Kartel is next among 2026’s strongest new entries, with God & Time debuting at No. 6. Buju Banton’s Too Too Bad and Iration’s Where It All Began both opened at No. 8, while Protoje’s The Art of Acceptance and Rebelution’s Live in St. Augustine entered at No. 9. Alkaline’s NPT debuted at No. 10.

The two-year comparison puts Stick Figure’s No. 2 debut with Free Flow Sessions at the top of the 2025-26 field. Sister Nancy’s No. 3 arrival follows, while Masicka’s No. 4 debut is the strongest showing of 2026 so far.
