Historic Report Documents Five Years of Senate Work

A report documenting the work of Belize’s Senate during its fourteenth parliamentary session was handed over today at the Prime Minister’s Office in Belize City.  The one-hundred-and-eight-page Belize Senate Summary Report covers the period from 2020 to 2025. The session began on December 11, 2020, and ended with the dissolution of the National Assembly on February eleventh, 2025. The document provides an overview of the Senate’s membership, its constitutional responsibilities and its role in reviewing legislation and providing oversight. It also covers parliamentary procedures, committee work, partnerships and parliamentary diplomacy, along with the administration of the National Assembly.  The report includes reviews of the Senate’s performance, key achievements and recommendations for future improvements. Supporting sections record Senate sittings, bills passed, motions adopted and papers tabled during the session.  Today’s handover marks a historic presentation of a consolidated account of the Senate’s work over that parliamentary period.
