Holness & Golding Sends Well Wishes to Paris Olympians

Prime Minister Andrew Holness and leader of the opposition, Mark Golding, have called for divine protection for Jamaica’s athletes as they seek Olympic glory in Paris.

Speaking at Sunday’s National Emancipation and Independence Worship Service at Grace Missionary Church, Prime Minister Holness says the 66 athletes are carrying the pride of the nation in the French capital.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader, Mark Golding’s hope is that the athletes remain healthy.

Jamaica’s is represented by a 66 member team, 62 track and field athletes, a judo fighter, two swimmers and a diver.

UK based judoka, Ashley McKenzie was the first Jamaican in action in Paris. Competing in the men’s 60kg event, he was knocked out of the Olympics at the round of 16.
