Holness: Jamaica Has Moved Pass the Days of “Empty Promises”

“The development of Jamaica cannot be made on empty promises.” That’s the word from Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness.

Dr. Holness was reacting to a recent comment from Opposition Leader Mark Golding that the People’s National Party’s, PNP, budget proposals were not meant to be implemented in the upcoming fiscal year.

Golding made the comment after finance minister, Fayval Williams, chided the PNP’s budget proposals for the absence of numbers to indicate how much implementation would cost taxpayers.

The PNP held a press conference last Thursday where it revealed that the proposals would cost approximately $23 billion.

But while addressing last Saturday’s banquet of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Holness says the days of Jamaica’s economy being compromised by short-term gratification are over.
