Holness Refutes Moves to Minimise Gov’t Efforts in Crime Reduction

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has hit back at suggestions from the Opposition People’s National Party that his administration has little to do with the decline in murders recorded so far in 2025.

As at May 29, murders in Jamaica are down 43 per cent, year on year.

National security minister, Dr. Horace Chang, says only one murder was recorded in St. James for the entire month of May.

The prime minister says this is proof that violent crime can be tamed.
