Holness Rejects Corruption Allegations in Leadership Debate

Prime Minister Andrew Holness used the last of the National Debates to defend his integrity against repeated attacks by Opposition Leader, Mark Golding.

The two squared off Thursday evening, to present their opposing cases to the Jamaican people, with the country less than a week away from General Elections.

From the word go! the first question directed to Dr. Holness was about his and his party’s relationship with the Integrity Commission.
The Prime Minister not only defended his integrity but sought to assure the Jamaican people that he can be trusted.

Dr. Holness would spend much of the debate repeatedly being challenged on this single point by his Opponent Mark Golding.

Mr. Golding continued to rehash accusations in the public domain regarding the Prime Minister’s Integrity Commission filings.

The Prime Minister has dismissed many of the allegations raised by Mr. Golding and is currently seeking judicial review of the report tabled by the Integrity Commission last year.

Mr. Golding went as far as to drag the Prime Minister’s wife, Member of Parliament for East Rural St. Andrew Juliet Holness, into the fray regarding her profession as a real estate developer.

The Prime Minister again hit back, labeling the insinuation as unsubstantiated lies accusing Mr. Golding of hypocrisy.
