Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has called out opposition leader, Mark Golding, for his comment about the Morant Bay Urban Centre in St Thomas.
The 20-plus acre urban centre valued at approximately $6 billion was opened about two weeks ago.
But while speaking at the Bath People’s National Party divisional conference in St Thomas on Sunday, Golding shaded the government’s move to officially open the centre.
Mark Golding, opposition leader.
Writing on his social media platforms on Monday, Prime Minister Holness says Mr. Golding’s attempt to belittle the development goes deeper than just politics.
According to him, it speaks to the heart of the opposition PNP. The prime minister says it’s a party that is unable to acknowledge the development happening in the country.
He adds that the PNP is also unwilling to witness and appreciate what these developments mean for the people.
Prime Minister Holness notes that this is the difference between a government that builds and an opposition that tears down.
He says this shows the difference between leadership that sees Jamaica and leadership that sees only politics. And leadership that focuses on what is good for Jamaica and leadership that focuses on what is good for themselves.
Prime Minister Holness affirms his belief in development for every parish and progress for every Jamaican.
He says while others may scoff from the sidelines, the government will continue doing the real work of nation-building, because Jamaica deserves nothing less.
