Holness Urges Labourites to Stand Against PNP

“Stand up against the PNP!” That’s the charge to labourites from Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness as he spoke at the Jamaica Labour Party’s constituency conference in West Central St. James on Sunday.

His rallying cry came in response to the protest planned by the People’s National Party, PNP, against the appointment of Dennis Chung as chief technical director of the Financial Investigations Division, FID.

It was a fired-up Andrew Holness who addressed labourites in St. James on Sunday. The prime minister pulled no punches as he hit back at the PNP’s comments and stance against the appointment of Dennis Chung at the FID.

The PNP have planned a protest for National Heroes Circle on Monday morning. This after the government failed to meet its ultimatum to rescind Chung’s appointment.

The prime minister is urging Labourites to not lie down and play dead. He wants islandwide counter protests against the actions of the PNP.

Prime Minister Holness says the PNP have developed a trend of attacking public sector workers.

The prime minister says the PNP is hypocritical for attempting to coerce his government into reversing a decision that was made using established protocol.
