Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says Jamaicans should be wary of plans by the opposition People’s National Party, PNP, to give young, first-time home buyers a $500,000 down payment.
He was speaking at the ground breaking ceremony for the Chantilly Gardens housing development in Westmoreland last Friday.
In addition to the promised down payment, the PNP says if it forms the next government, it will build 50,000 housing solutions on government lands.
It says the cost of the land will not be included in the final sale price.
In addition, PNP leader, Mark Golding, proposed in Portland over a week ago that swamp lands in the parish will be developed to accommodate 500 houses.
The prime minister says Jamaicans must beware of whimsical policies.
Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness.
