A 51-year-old homeless man was arrested on Tuesday, after breaking into the Pan American Life Insurance office at Upper St Vincent Street, Port-of-Spain.
Police said two security guards were carrying out checks around 11 pm, when an alarm sounded on the third floor.
Upon checking, they saw a dark-skinned man of African descent with a rasta hairstyle, walking along the corridor near the kitchen. The guards told police that they ordered the suspect to stop and he refused.
A physical altercation eventually led to the guards using their batons to subdue the suspect, who managed to flee after breaking two glass windows.
Following a police report, extensive checks were carried out and the suspect was found wandering in the area.
He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital for medical attention before being taken into custody.
