Interim Minister of Home Affairs Julius Espat spent much of today in Belize City with a few hours this morning at the Queen Street Police Station where he met with the senior commanders. The meeting was a part of his familiarization with the department as the interim Minister of Home Affairs. The meeting lasted approximately two hours and brought together the department’s leadership to discuss ongoing operations, priorities, and the challenges facing law enforcement. Speaking with Love News following the session, Espat described the discussions as open and productive.

Julis Espat, Minister of Home Affairs: “I met the main commander and each one had a portfolio or has a portfolio. They basically introduced themselves and explained what they do and what the portfolio entails. So it was a good meeting. Every organization needs to move on with time. I believe they need more resources strategically positioned.”
