Hope Bemoans Inconsistent WI After Pakistan T20 Series Loss

West Indies white ball captain, Shai Hope, admits it was tough losing Sunday’s third T20 International against Pakistan.

The Caribbean men went town by 13 runs at Lauderhill in Florida which helped the tourists clinch the three-match series 2-1.

Sahib-zada Farhan, 74, and Saim Ayum, 66, shared in a 138-run opening stand to set Pakistan on their way to 189 for 4 in their 20 overs.

There was a wicket apiece for Jason Holder, Shamar Joseph and Roston Chase.

The Windies’ reply was electric, scoring 33 off the first two overs, but they just could not maintain that momentum.

They eventually ended on 176 for 6, with Alick Athanaze 60 and Sherfane Rutherford 51, the top scorers.

Hope found it difficult to explain why the regional side continue to be inconsistent, despite having some best T20 players throughout the franchise leagues.

The teams will fly into the Caribbean this week for the start of a three-match One Day International series. The first game is set for Friday at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

Hope says they’ll need to adjust to the conditions quickly.

Shai Hope.
