A long-overdue facelift is finally coming to the ITVET facility in Hope Creek, Stann Creek District, through a major infrastructural upgrade made possible by a $1.4 million investment. The institution, which has not seen any substantial improvements in 13 years, will undergo extensive repairs including electrical and plumbing upgrades, roof and ceiling restoration, installation of smoke detectors, and rehabilitation of the administration, culinary arts, and hospitality management buildings. According to Carlos Tun, Executive Director of SIF, the scope of work aims to transform the ITVET into a more modern, safe, and conducive learning space.
Area Representative for Dangriga, Dr. Louis Zabaneh, also emphasized the long-term community benefits of the investment. He noted that the renovation was informed by a skills needs assessment specific to the district, ensuring the facility and its programs are aligned with workforce demands.
The project is being funded by the Caribbean Development Bank in partnership with the Government of Belize, under the Trust Fund Cycle 10 and executed by the Social Investment Fund (SIF).
