While police did not report this incident to the media, LOVE News investigation uncovered the brutal beating Almendarez sustained at the hands of his mechanic who was hired to do a job. Harry Arzu has more.

Harry Arzu, Dangriga Correspondent Emilio Almandarez was hospitalized as a result of serious injuries he sustained from an individual who brutally beat him with a bat. The incident happened on the 2nd of October, 2025 in Hope Creek Village here in the Stank Creek District. Almendarez told of news that he took his pickup truck to a mechanic shop in the said village to get some repairs done. When he returned to check on his vehicle, the mechanic who was working on it gave him a bill of $100. But after Almendarez examined his vehicle, he noticed that the vehicle was worse and was not satisfied with the service. As a result, Almendarez refused to pay the full cost of what he was being charged for. And that led to an altercation. Almendarez tells us more.

Emilio Almendarez: “I explained to him that this situation went wrong. This guy damaged my vehicle, list not working, the speedometer is not working. I tell the guy that I’ll take out a summons against him for all my damages to my vehicle and everything. Yeah, that’s the guy that was doing the repair. So he get mad and he cursed me out and told me to get out of the yard. I said, fine, it’s not my yard, I came out of the yard. Okay. October the 2nd, I was home working with my workers. Around 3 or 4pm the workers finished so I went to drop off one of the coworkers.  On my way back home, I saw him standing on the corner on my lane. I had to slow down to come into my lane. He came to me angry, I don’t know, to me like he was on cocaine or something, you know? He jumped off the bike, and came at me; he punched me through my window and right away we started to struggle. He said he needed money and I told him I would not pay him any money. He came at me angry like you know, cause money. I told him I will not give money so we will struggle for it.  He held the door so that I couldn’t come out. He had threatened me previously that anywhere he met me he would kill me. When I decided that I would come out of the van ,he shook the door against me and I fell down. I had a bat inside the van and when he saw it, he grabbed it. I tried to get it before him but it was too late so I decided to run. He started chasing me with the bat and hit me on my head, that is when I fell on the ground. He started hitting me on the face, said that he’s going to kill me.  I was weak at that point so I couldn’t do much.”

Harry Arzu, Dangriga Correspondent “So you received injuries to the head or where  else?

Emilio Almendarez: “The  head, bruises all over my body, the face.”

Harry Arzu, Dangriga Correspondent Almendarez also lamented that while he was bleeding profusely on the ground due to the injuries he received, a police officer from the nearby village did not give him the attention he deserves as the victim in the incident. He is now seeking justice and would like to clear the air.

Emilio Almendarez:“So I’m telling you the truth about what went wrong. Nothing like that that I was trying to knock him down and nothing that, you know, yes, he attacked me because I said I owe him. That’s not true because he owes me; he damaged my truck and that’s what got him mad. So, the proof is there and the truck is there so, we’ll go from there. For the Hope Creek people and Pomona and Stann Creek and Sarawee, I just want you all to know that the rumors that he is spreading is foul rumors. So don’t listen to him. He has a lot of problems with people. Just time will tell and everybody will know him. He’s spreading that, oh, I’m trying to knock him down. People are telling me that he says that I owe him and that’s why he did that to me, you know? But I don’t have time for listen to rumors so when the court date comes, then we’ll go to court and then my lawyer will deal with it.”
