Hope Praises Batters After Series Win Over Ireland

Captain of the West Indies, Shai Hope was beaming with pride after the Caribbean Side beat Ireland by 62-runs in the final game of their three-match series at the Bready Ground on Sunday.

The win gave the Windies a 1-0 series victory after the first two matches were abandoned due to rain.

Evin Lewis, 91, and Hope, 51, shared in a first wicket stand of 122 to lay the foundation for the big total of 256 for 5.

Lewis belted seven fours and eight sixes in his 44 ball knock, while Hope slammed four fours and four sixes off 27 deliveries. Keacy Carthy weighed in with an unbeaten 49 against Matthew Humphreys, 2 for 16.

Hope had high praises for the batters.

Ross Adair, 48, and Harry Tector shared in a second wicket stand of 101, but the Irish chase fizzled when both departed, as only Mark McCarthy 31 showed any further resistance with 31 as Akeal Hosein bagged 3 for 27 and Jason Holder 2 for 49.

Hope is not 100 per cent satisfied with with his team’s fielding.

The West Indies next limited overs series will be their five game schedule against Australia at the start of July at Sabina Park.
