Hopkins Village Council Takes Office With Less Than $50 in Account


Forty-six dollars and ninety-three cents – that is the amount that is in the bank account for the Hopkins Village Council in the Stann Creek District.  A new council was elected on May 25, led by businesswoman, Ella Carr of Ella’s Cool Spot.  Although very spirited in their campaign, and determined to make a difference in the village, the handing over of the council’s assets was disappointing to say the least.  In a public statement made by the new council, it was noted that the Ministry of Local Government officially handed over the keys to the village council office along with three wheelbarrows, one rake, one shovel, one trailer and a garbage truck along with other sanitation accessories.  The new council comprises Irari Jamar Augustine, Andre Anthony Diego, Marrisa Vernice Lewis, Clyde Clenton Jr. , Mario Ransom “Putt” Nunez, Jeremy Christoph Lewis who will serve until 2028.
