Veteran jockey, George HoSang, says he’s honoured to be recognised by Caymanas Park.

The George HoSang meet is the first of three quarterly meets named in honour of the legendary jockey at the park.

HoSang dominated both local and international racing. He won the champion jockey title in Jamaica from 1972 to 1975.

HoSong also secured the jockey’s title in Canada from 1979 to 1981. He was also inducted into the Jamaica Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame.

The featured race on Saturday’s nine-race card at Caymanas Park is named in his honour.

The $1.25 million Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and older over six furlongs has attracted a field of 10 runners.

HoSang says there’s no clear favourite.
