Housekeeper Reports $800 Burglary at Belize City Apartment

Police are investigating a burglary after a Belize City housekeeper discovered several household items missing from her apartment earlier this week.  Twenty-two-year-old Courtney Flores of Faber’s Road Extension reported to the Precinct Two Crimes Investigation Branch that she secured her apartment at the Bingo King Apartments around 8am last Monday.  When she returned shortly after midday, two days later, on Wednesday, she found both doors pushed wide open, though neither the lock nor the door appeared damaged.  Flores told investigators she then realized multiple items had been stolen, including a 32-inch Samsung television valued at two hundred thirty dollars, a single wooden bed valued at seventy-five dollars, a cardboard barrel containing assorted children’s clothing valued at one hundred fifty dollars, a standing fan valued at thirty-five dollars, a pair of New Balance tennis shoes valued at one hundred sixty dollars, and a dresser valued at one hundred fifty dollars. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at eight hundred Belize dollars.  Investigators determined entry was gained by opening the door lock from inside through a damaged aluminum window located near the door.
