Hundreds Receive House Lots in Port Loyola Distribution

Yesterday, hundreds of residents gathered at the YMCA on Faber’s Road Extension for the official distribution of house lots to three hundred first-time landowners in the Port Loyola division.  The initiative, spearheaded by PUP Area Representative for Port Loyola, Gilroy Usher Sr., marks a significant milestone for many families who have long awaited the opportunity to secure property in their own names. The event ran from two o’clock to five o’clock and saw recipients completing paperwork and receiving official documentation for their lots.  For many beneficiaries, the allocation represents more than just land, it is a foundation for stability, homeownership, and generational security.  Area Representative Gilroy Usher says the distribution fulfills a key commitment to residents and underscores the government’s continued efforts to expand access to land ownership.

Also in attendance was Pickstock Area Representative and Minister of Tourism, Anthony Mahler, who came out in support of Usher and the Port Loyola community. Mahler emphasized that access to land is a powerful tool for social and economic mobility.  He noted that providing house lots to first-time owners is one of the most effective ways to help lift families out of poverty and create long-term opportunities for wealth building.

Today’s distribution forms part of the broader national effort to expand land access and empower Belizean families through ownership.
