Former Manning Cup finalist Hydel has appointed Alex Thomas as the new head coach of their Manning Cup football team.
Thomas replaces Devon Anderson who left last month to take up the head coaching job at many time DaCosta Cup champions Clarendon College.
The appointment was made official this month, with Thomas set to begin preseason training on July 7 ahead of the 2025 schoolboy football season.
Thomas, a highly respected coach in local football circles, brings a wealth of experience at both the schoolboy and senior levels.
He previously served on the coaching staff at Wolmer’s Boys from 2009 to 2019, leading the team to multiple titles including the Walker Cup and Champions Cup.
He also served as head coach for the Under-14 and Under-16 teams winning several championships with both.
The only title that has eluded him so far is the Manning Cup
Thomas was present with the Hydel team during the latter stages of the 2024/2025 season and is already familiar with the current squad.
In addition to his schoolboy credentials, Thomas has coached in the Jamaica Premier League with clubs such as Arnett Gardens, Molynes United, and Humble Lion FC.
