Hydel Clocks Fastest Qualifying Time in Girls 4×100 at Penn Relays

Defending champions Hydel High clocked the fastest time in the Championship of Americas 4×100 girls qualifiers in the morning session on day two of the 129th Penn Relays at Franklin Field Philadelphia.

The Ferry based school clocked 44.54 seconds, the quickest time going into Saturday afternoon’s final where four other Jamaican schools also secured their spots.

Edwin Allen was second fastest with 44.64 seconds followed by Wolmers 45.50 seconds, Holmwood Tech 46 seconds flat and St. Mary High 46.81 seconds

Three Jamaicans schools are in the Championship of Americas girls 4×800 finals following the morning’s heats.

Alphansus Davis was the quickest in 8:54.73 and they were ahead Holmwood who won their heat in 9:01.58 while Edwin Allen comes next with 9:04.26.

Meanwhile, several Jamaican schools will go for Championship of Americas titles in the boys category on Friday afternoon.

The first final went off at 12:50, the 4x100m where the likes of Calabar, Jamaica College, Kingston College, Edwin Allen, STETHS, William Knibb and defending champions Excelsior.

In the 4x400m final which goes off at 3 pm defending champions Kingston College, Calabar, STETHS and Jamaica College will battle for the title.

And the big 4×800 final goes off at 4:55 with Calabar, Edwin Allen and Kingston College flying the flag for the Jamaica Schools.
