Immigration Officer Charged With Extortion

A 45-year-old immigration officer is facing criminal charges after investigators concluded that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with an extortion case. Police say the complaint was made last week alleging that money was demanded in exchange for immigration-related assistance. Following an investigation, the officer was arrested and formally charged with extortion. ACP Hilberto Romero says investigators had gathered statements and other evidence before forwarding the file for legal advice.

Requena was stationed at the Big Creek Port at the time of the alleged extortion.
