International Lions Leader Visits Belize Ahead Of Annual Convention

Belize is welcoming a distinguished international visitor this week as Past International President of Lions Clubs International, Dr. Patti Hill, arrived in the country ahead of the 47th Annual Lions Convention, where she is expected to engage with local partners on several development initiatives.  Dr. Hill’s visit is being hosted by the Sub Umbra Floreo Lions Club, which says the trip represents an opportunity to deepen collaboration between the international service organization and Belizean stakeholders, particularly in areas focused on children and sustainable development.  During her visit, Dr. Hill is expected to meet with government representatives and community leaders as part of ongoing efforts to identify projects that can benefit Belizeans, including those connected to the country’s growing Blue Economy sector.  Dr. Hill explained that discussions are already underway with the Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation to explore collaborative projects, alongside other community-based initiatives that could support sustainable livelihoods and youth development.

Also welcoming the collaboration is Andre Perez, who says partnerships with international service organizations like Lions Clubs can help expand opportunities for communities that depend on Belize’s marine and coastal resources.  Perez noted that the engagement is expected to open doors for joint initiatives that promote conservation, economic opportunity, and support for coastal communities.

Dr. Hill’s visit coincides with Belize’s 47th Annual Lions Convention, where Lions members from across the country will gather to celebrate service achievements and discuss new programs aimed at strengthening community development nationwide.
