Police are still trying to determine the motive behind a bar shooting in Penal yesterday that left 23-year-old Isiah John dead, and another man injured.
John had been liming outside Shantila Bar on Lachoos Road around 2 pm when a white Nissan Tiida pulled up beside him. Four armed men got out and opened fire.
He ran into the bar as the gunmen pursued him, continuing to shoot. Other patrons scrambled for cover. The attackers later escaped in the same vehicle.
John was found bleeding under a gaming machine. A 55-year-old welder was discovered in the toilet area, bleeding from gunshot wounds to his right leg. His daughter took him to the Siparia Health Facility, and he was later transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.
John, a labourer, died at the scene.
Police recovered 13 spent 5.56 shell casings, eleven 9 mm casings, one live round of 5.56 ammunition and one live 9 mm round.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region III are continuing enquiries.
