Iris Stryx Opens Up About Earning Her First No. 1 Record On Jamaica’s YouTube Charts

Rising Bahamian singer Iris Stryx is celebrating her breakout single “Enchantin’” which has climbed to the No. 1 spot on the Jamaican YouTube Charts for the week ending November 6, 2025. It’s her first Top 10 entry—and her first-ever number one—placing her above international heavyweights and dancehall hitmakers.

In an exclusive conversation with World Music Views, Iris opens up about her classical beginnings, the personal story behind her viral hit, and how she balances motherhood with a fast-rising music career.

A Classical Start to a Caribbean Star

Iris’ musical journey began far from the dancehall and trap-infused sounds currently dominating Jamaica.

“I started with piano and classical music—Beethoven and Mozart,” she explained. She later transitioned into composition before channeling personal experiences into songwriting.

Music ultimately became her emotional outlet.

“It’s always been how I express myself. Enchantin’ was the first time I wrote about my present life instead of my past. It felt like the beginning of a new era.”

The single appears on her EP Rebirth, a symbolic title representing her creative transition.

The Love Triangle That Sparked ‘Enchantin’’

The inspiration behind her No. 1 hit is as real as it gets.

Iris revealed that she was previously engaged and facing backlash from her fiancé’s former partner.

“So I decided to do a song about it,” she laughs.

Drawing inspiration from Stefflon Don’s “Hurting Me,” Iris flipped the narrative—this time singing from the perspective of the other girl.

The result was Enchantin’, originally intended as a fun, playful track but unexpectedly caught fire.

“100 Jamz started playing it, and then I was back on stage for the first time in five years—opening for Tyrese. That moment was surreal.”

The singer says she was shocked when she saw the World Music Views’ Jamaican YouTube charts.

“My friend sent it to me, and I was like—oh my goodness. Jamaica has shown me so much love.”

The support has motivated her to give back. Iris is currently organizing a disaster-relief effort for Jamaica and hopes to personally visit victims.

“My fans are reaching out asking who needs help. Jamaica has supported me so much, and I want to return that love.”

A Follow-Up Single Is Ready

With a No. 1 hit now under her belt, Iris is preparing to release her next track, “No Regrets.”

“It’s about the end of the relationship—accepting everything, moving on, and being a queen. Women today want to travel and live life; you can’t keep a queen in a bubble.”

She previewed the single during her recent performance and plans to share the footage soon.

Balancing Artistry and Motherhood

One of the most touching parts of Iris’ story is how she navigates music while raising her daughter.

“I had to incorporate her. In the video shoot she wasn’t supposed to be in it, but I didn’t have anyone to take her. Either she comes with me, or the project doesn’t happen.”

Now her daughter is delighted to see herself on screen.

“She gets so excited—‘That’s me next to Mommy!’ It means everything.”

Upcoming Performances & What’s Next

Iris’ next major appearance will be December 12th, opening for Beanie Man in the Bahamas.

But her eyes are also set on Jamaica.

“I want to perform in Jamaica. I was raised by a Jamaican woman, so coming there feels like coming home.”

She is also in early talks about producing a full-length album with Jamaican collaborators Major 7 and One Adventurous.

Who Is Iris Strix?

“Strix comes from the owl,” she says. “But that’s a whole different story!”
