Chin from Irish and Chin is calling out entertainers for showing a lack of respect for Caribbean media.
In a bold video posted to Instagram, Chin expressed frustration that many Dancehall and Reggae artists are bypassing Caribbean media outlets in favor of elite American platforms.
Chin clarified that he’s not against American media but believes Caribbean platforms should not be excluded:
“I’m not saying American media shouldn’t be included — but Caribbean media should not be excluded.”
In the comments, several entertainers chimed in. Singer Ce’Cile wrote: “We got to always remember to support our own! That’s it.”
However, singer Twiggi offered a different perspective: “A lot of the Caribbean/Jamaican media bypass Reggae and Dancehall artists when they’re not as hot as they used to be… I can attest to that. So I guess it’s 6 of one, half dozen of the other.”
This debate follows a wave of recent interviews by top Jamaican acts like Buju Banton, Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man, and Masicka on major U.S. platforms such as Drink Champs, The Breakfast Club, Ebro in the Morning, and Way Up with Angela Yee.
