Veteran criminal lawyer and Criminal Bar Association president Israel Khan, SC, took time out to say thanks to those who worked with and supported him through 2025 last Friday.
Khan hosted his annual Christmas Dinner and Cocktail Reception at his Justitia Omnibus Law Chambers at Abercromby Street, Port-of-Spain, but the event took on a greater meaning this year
In a few words during the event, Khan said this year was particularly significant, as he was again recognised by the national community for not only his work in the legal fraternity but other areas, including culture and national discourse on things pertaining to the country’s governance.
He noted that it started last October when two streets in Tunapuna were named after him by the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation on the recommendation of a committee of residents.
This continued last month when Khan, who has been in private practice for 45 years and spent 25 years in the Inner Bar, was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of Trinidad and Tobago.
He thanked family, friends and members of his chambers, noting he could not have achieved what he did without their support.
The event was attended by members of the legal fraternity and Government officials.
