JOSE Marti High were the only double winners on the day as second-round action in the ISSA urban schoolgirls netball competition got under way on Wednesday at the Leila Robinson Court. The Philip Pinnock–coached juniors and seniors scored contrasting wins to take early control of their group.
The senior team had the biggest win of the day after easily brushing aside neighbours St Jago High 45-23. In a very close encounter, their junior team outlasted former champions The Queen’s School 19-18.
Gaynstead High, Vauxhall High and Camperdown High all registered wins in their senior matches, while their junior teams had to settle for ties in their respective games.
The Dalton Hinds-coached Gaynstead senior team remained hot this season, cruising to a 44-15 win over Jonathan Grant High, with their juniors playing to an 18-18 draw with Camperdown.
Vauxhall’s seniors were too good for Campion College, getting by them 33-13, while Camperdown seniors scored a 32-17 win over St Jago High.
Following their defeat to Vauxhall in their final preliminary-round game, defending three-time senior champions St Catherine High returned to winning ways, defeating Jonathan Grant 28-20.
