“JAAA Doesn’t Care About Us!”: Rajindra Campbell Explains Turkey Switch

12 hours ago 2

Olympic shot put bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell has opened up on his decision to start the process of switching allegiance from Jamaica to Turkey.

The 29-year-old Campbell is one of four Jamaicans who have agreed to make the switch.

The former Ferncourt and Kingston College star says he was approached in 2023 to compete for another country, but turned down the offer out of loyalty to Jamaica.

However, he says this time he couldn’t say no because he felt the people running the sport in Jamaica didn’t care about him.

Campbell says the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association, JAAA, made up his mind for him when they turned down a multi-billion dollar offer from a shoe company that could’ve made life much easier for the athletes.

Campbell is also warning that more athletes could go.
