JAAA’s President Unwilling to Discus Adidas multi-billion Dollar Sponsorship Package

JAAA’s President Garth Gayle says they are not interested in discussing a proposed Mega billion dollar sponsorship deal by sports goods Manufactures Adidas because they have a standing arrangement with Puma.

Gayle was responding to a Nationwide Sports exclusive yesterday where we revealed details of a proposal from Adidas to spend $5.7Billion on Jamaica’s track and field at all levels for the next 8 years.

In the document seen by Nationwide Sports, Adidas proposed to make a quarter of a million dollars available available every year for the next 8 years to refurbish or upgrade sports facilities around the country.

In addition Under the proposed deal, Adidas intend to make available close to US $3Million or $44 Million Jamaican a year in cash to the JAAA’s for 8 years.

Two million one hundred and eighty thousand U.S dollars in Equipment will be put aside per year, with two million of that in General Products and 50 Thousand per year in products for the next generation of Jamaican athletes.

There’s also a 10% Royalty bonus per year from sales of Adidas apparel.

Also in the proposal, Adidas says it will put aside a retainer for the JAAA’s of US $2.5 million or $37 Million Jamaican per year for 8 years.

However Gayle told Nationwide Sports today that it is unethical to facilitate any contract offer or proposal when the one they have in place is still alive.

The current deal with Puma expires in November this year.

However, sources say Adidas decided to make public their proposal because it’s alleged that the JAAA’s has already renewed the arrangement with Puma.
