THE JAMAICA Athletics Administrative Association has selected three teams to the inaugural Barbados Grand Prix in a bid to get them qualified for the World Athletics Championships.
The event, set to take place in Barbados on July 5, will include a women’s 4x100-metre team of Jodean Williams, Krystal Sloley, Jonielle Smith and Serena Cole.
There will also be a 4x100-metre men’s team with Kadrian Goldson, Adrian Kerr, Bouwahgie Nkrumie, and Odain McPherson.
Jamaica is sending the teams on account of failing to qualify automatically at the World Relays earlier this year.
The country will also be seeking to have a 4x400-metre mixed relay team qualify for the World Championships.
That team will include Roneisha McGregor, Shanakaye Anderson, Jeremy Bembridge, and Bovel McPherson.
The team, which departed for Barbados yesterday, is managed by Brian Smith. Head coach is Paul Francis, who will be assisted by Lamar Richards. Jowayne Johnson is the massage therapist.
The track meet will be held at the Usain Bolt Stadium.
