The reason put forward for the withdrawal is shin discomfort.

The 24-year-old will also not compete in the upcoming Diamond League meets in Brussels or Zurich, and will not run again until World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan in September.

It will be Thompson’s first appearance at the World Championships, having missed the cut for the 2023 edition of the event in Budapest.

Oblique Seville, Ackeem Blake, Wayne Pinnock, Carey McLeod, Tajay Gayle, Rajindra Campbell, Megan Tapper and Ackera Nugent are the others Jamaicans scheduled to be in action.
