Member of Parliament, MP, for South St. Catherine, Fitz Jackson, has repeated a pledge that an administration led by the People’s National Party, PNP, will expedite the use of body-worn cameras by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF.

He was giving his sectoral debate presentation in Parliament on Tuesday.

The Independent Commission of Investigations and human rights lobby organisation Jamaicans For Justice, JFJ, have repeatedly called for the use of body worn cameras during police operations.

The calls have intensified since the start of the year, coinciding with an increase in police fatal shootings.

JFJ says the cameras will enhance the trust between the JCF and the public. Mr. Jackson agrees.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jackson has commended the leadership of police commissioner, Dr. Kevin Blake.

Jackson says Dr. Blake’s approach is aligned with the PNP’s plans.
