Jamaica Bag Two Medals at Caribbean Squash Champs

Team Jamaica bagged two individual medals at the end of the individual section of the Junior Caribbean Area Squash Association Championships currently underway in the Cayman Islands.

Vice-captain Mehar Trehan took silver when she lost 3-2 against Eboni Atherley in the final of the Girls Under 19 mach-up.

Getting two games off Atherley is considered significant as that was the first time ever that any player was beating her in any games, however she rallied back to win the match.

Captain Sanjana Nalapati won her bronze medal in straight sets 3-nil over Gabrielle Turchiaro in a commanding performance.

Elle Wilson, the other under 19 girl in the championship lost 3-nil to Milanna Lamontagne for the sixth place play-off.

In other results Marley Price ended in ninth place in the Girls Under 13 category, Hinal Lohana went down to Clauda Bullmore 3-1 for the eight place in the Girls Under 15 category, while the other Under-15 girl Isabelle Robinson was defeated by McKenna Kyme 3-nil.

Meanwhile, the boys have been having a challenging time so far in the championship.

Results in their matches show Under 15 player Ethan Miller getting 5th place after his opponent Daniel Sealy retired hurt with the score on one all.

Govind Venogopal ended in ninth place after beating Nixon Callender 3-2 in the Under 15 category, Under 17 Boys Max Henzell lost to Brenna Da Silva 3-1 for the sixteenth place.

The lone Under 17 girl, Prya Stoddart went down in straight sets 3-nil to Thalia Knight.
