President of the Jamaica Boxing Association, Stephen Bomber Jones, says the body has a vision to establish a high school boxing championship in Jamaica.
Boris van der Vorst, president of World Boxing visited St. Andrew Technical High School, STATHS, during his five-day stay in Jamaica.
The school recently started its boxing programme under the guidance of past student and boxing enthusiast Wayne Roberts. A small group of students are exposed to the rudiments of boxing in the school’s gym.
Roberts dream is for the school to host the inaugural High School Boxing Championship. President of the Jamaica Boxing Association, Stephen Bomber Jones, says he supports Robert’s vision.
Jones says the ultimate goal for school boxing is to have a high school boxing championship with at least 16 participating schools, and eventually for it to rival championships at that level.
