Having bagged a solitary Bronze on the first day, Jamaican athletes will go hunting for more medals on day two of the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing China.
Day two gets underway for Jamaica at 9:25 tonight with Demario Prince and Jerome Campbell going in the first round heats of the men’s 60m hurdles.
Then at 10:22 Jodean Williams and Natasha Morrison enter the women’s 60m first round.
Utech student Raymond Richards scaled 2.28 in the men’s Triple Jump for the country’s lone medal so far.
The other Jamaican in the event, Olympic finalist Romaine Beckford was ninth in the final, his best jump 2.14m.
Two other Jamaicans contested finals today.
Jordan Scott just missed the podium after finishing fourth in the men’s Triple Jump final with 17.10m
While Rohan Watson placed fifth in the men’s 60m final in 6.59 seconds.
National outdoor record holder Rusheen McDonald after qualifying for the men’s 400m semi-finals as one of the fastest losers with a third place 46.72 seconds performance, failed to make the final with a fifth place finish in semi-final one in 47.22 seconds
None of the two Jamaicans in the women’s 400m made it past the first round.
Joanne Reid did not start, she was scheduled to run in heat one while Leah Anderson was fourth in heat two in 52.86 seconds.
