KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC):

GUYANA WOMEN triumphed over Jamaica in a dramatic Super Over finish to claim the Women’s T20 Blaze after both teams were deadlocked at 122 runs in regulation play at Arnos Vale on Sunday night.

Jamaica, sent in to bat, were restricted to 122-5, thanks to a disciplined bowling effort led by Nyia Latchman, who bagged 2-11, and Ashmini Munisar, who claimed 2-26.

Chedean Nation anchored the innings with a steady 35, while Abigail Bryce’s unbeaten 32 and Jodian Morgan’s 27 pushed Jamaica to a defendable total.

Guyana’s chase mirrored their opponents, finishing at 122-5. Shemaine Campbelle led the fight with a composed 54, supported by Realeanna Grimmond’s crucial 46 after early stumbles.

Jamaica’s bowlers kept things tight, with Chinelle Henry bagging 1-12 and Jodian Morgan, 2-25, the standouts.

With the scores level, the match went into a Super Over.

Guyana scored eight runs, with Vanessa Watts striking to remove Shabika Gajnabi for three, before Campbelle, three, and Grimmond, two, helped prop up the score.

Needing nine for victory, Jamaica crumbled under pressure with Henry falling for a duck and Nation, going run out for two, to end on three for two.
