Jamaica Medals Into Double Figures at Junior Pan Am

Jamaica added five more medals to their count on Friday’s penultimate day of the Pan Am Junior championships in Paraguay, bringing their tally to 14.

The biggest moment on the day came from Racquil Broaderick who shattered the championship record with a throw of 61-point 79m to win the Men’s Discus, the old mark was 61-point-zero 8 meters.

His countryman countryman Chris Young bagged silver with 59-point 34 meters.

O’Coner Robinson, Jasauna Dennis, Kevin Bliss and Tyreece Hyman combined to post 3-minutes-06-point-59 seconds for silver in the men’s 4x400m final.

South American powerhouse Brazil won in a new meeting record of 3-minutes-03-point-76 seconds.

Jamaica also grabbed silver in the women’s mile relay, with Shanque Williams, Shaniel Brissett, Daynea Colstock and Shanakaye Williams posting 3-minutes-31-point 74 seconds, beaten on the line by Canada 3-minutes-31-point 73 seconds with Mexico third 3-minutes-31-point 95 seconds.

Chavez Penn was the other Jamaican medal winner on the day, cutting the Sand with 16-point 44 meters for bronze in the men’s Triple Jump final.

David Warmington and Matthew Sullivan failed to medal in the 110m hurdles, finishing 5th and 8th respectively.
