Jamaica’s under-21 men and women’s beach volleyball teams failed to finish among the medals at the recent CAZOVA World Championship Qualification in the Cayman islands.

Cayman Islands won the women’s title after beating Barbados 2-1, while Barbados was awarded the men’s trophy after an injury forced The Cayman Islands team to retire.

Damia Sibblies and Brandy McCarthy represented Jamaica in the women’s category, Ithran Softley and Love-let Blake were the Jamaican representatives on the men’s side.

Seventeen-year-old Sibblies was competing in her first international competition.

Sibblies, who is known for her indoor game, says it has been difficult making the transition to beach volleyball.
