Jamaica’s national senior men’s football team take on Panama in Group C action of the CONCACAF Gold Cup at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, at 6 pm.
The meeting will be the third clash between the nations in Gold Cup history.
Jamaica holds the upper hand with a win and draw. The Reggae Boyz victory came in the 2019 quarterfinals in Philadelphia.
In the last ten all-time meetings between the two sides, Panama has the advantage with a six wins, two draws and two defeats.
Panama enters undefeated so far in this tournament, scoring six combined goals while only allowing two. A narrow 1-0 win over Guatemala has the Panamanians in the top spot of the group.
Jamaica is coming off their only victory of the campaign, and in second place in the group. The Jamaicans need to defeat Panama and end with a better goal difference to take first place in the group.
A loss could be costly as it will eliminate the Reggae Boyz, depending on what happens in the Guadeloupe-Guatemala match.
The last time Jamaica failed to make it out of the Gold Cup group stage was in the 2009 edition.
