Jamaica’s 81-member contingent is scheduled to depart the island today for St. Georges, Grenada, for the 2024 Carifa Junior Track and Field Championships over the Easter Weekend.

There were last-minute changes to the original squad, with Muschett High’s Osmond Holt and St. Jago High’s Kimeka Smith added to the team.

Holt finished third in the decathlon at Champs and will participate in the octathlon, and Smith will participate in the heptathlon after winning at ISSA/Grace Boys and Girls Championships last week.

Meanwhile, St. Jago’s Shannia Campbell was withdrawn from the team and was replaced by her teammate Adora Campbell for the Under-17 Girls’ 200-metres.

Michael Carr, who will serve as one of the coaches on the technical team, is confident Jamaica will secure their 38th straight hold on the title.

Carr says several of the other Caribbean countries will benefit from having their athletes live and train in Jamaica.
