The Statistical Institute of Jamaica, STATIN, says the economy grew by 1.1 per cent over the period January to March this year.
The outturn was influenced by a 2 per cent expansion in the goods producing industries and growth of 0.8 per cent in the services industry.
For the first quarter this year, agriculture, forestry and fisheries grew by 3.1 per cent, mining and quarrying grew by 0.7 per cent, manufacturing expanded by 1.7 per cent and construction grew by 1.4 per cent.
All areas among the services industries recorded growth except for real estate and business services which declined by 0.4 per cent and wholesale and retail which contracted by 0.8 per cent.
