Jamaica’s Jordan Scott Places 4th in World Indoors Triple Jump

Jamaica’s Jordan Scott just missed out on a medal on the opening day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships currently on in Nanjing, China.

Scott finished 4th in the triple jump final with a leap of 17.10 metres, just missing the podium.

Italy’s Andy Diaz Hernandez produced a world leading 17.80 metres to win gold.

Raymond Richards and Olympic finalist Romaine Beckford are contesting the men’s high jump final.

At ten minutes to seven Jamaica time Friday morning, Lloydrica Cameron will line up in the shot put final.

Meanwhile, national outdoor record holder, Rusheen McDonald, finished third in his heat of the 400 meters in 46.72 seconds and made it through to the semifinals set for later this morning as one of the fastest losers.

Rohan Watson clocked 6.54 seconds for fourth in his heat of the men’s 60 meters and will run in the semifinals.

However, the other Jamaican in the event, Nishion Ebanks, failed to advance from his heat after finishing third in 6.70 seconds.

Two more Jamaicans were in action Friday morning as Joanne Reid and Leah Anderson competed in the first round of the women’s 400 metres.
