Jamaica Scorpions Heading For Defeat Against Leeward Islands Hurricanes

The Jamaica Scorpions are heading for defeat against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes in their second round West Indies Championship encounter at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Set 156 to win the host reached 44 for 1 when rain ended play early on day three, needing a further 112 on tomorrow’s final day.

The Scorpions after trailing by 15 runs on first innings, crashed to 170 all in their second turn at bat with Captain John Campbell top-scoring with 53, Gordon Bryan 34 not out and Jeavor Royal 25.

Oshane Thomas 3 for 44 and Rahkeem Cornwall 3 for 54 got most wickets for the Hurricanes.

Scores so far in the game the Jamaica Scorpions 320 and 170, the Hurricanes 335 and 44 for 1.

At Arnos Vale in St. Vincent, the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force registered an impressive innings and 176 run win over the Windward Islands Volcanoes inside three days.

The Red Force piled up 456 in their first innings thanks to steady batting performances from Cephas Cooper 117, Jason Mohammed 103, Yannick Cariah 95 and Amir Jangoo 84 against Darel Cyrus 4 for 105.

Khary Pierre then ripped through the Volcanoes second innings with 8 for 24 they crashed to 114 all out.

At Providence stadium, champion Guyana Harpy Eagles were slightly in the ascendancy despite losing first innings honours to the Combined Campuses and Colleges outfit,

The Harpy Eagles were dismissed for 343 runs in their response to the CCC’s 375 all out.

Tevin Imlach was left not out on 126, while Ronaldo Alimohamed made 77 against four wickets each from Ojay Shields and Akeem Jordan.

Batting a second time CCC reached 32 for 3, a lead of 64.

At Kensington Oval Barbados Pride are in total command.

The Bajans declared their first innings on 581 for 9, this due mainly to a stunning 212 from captain Kraigge Brathwaite and 117 from Jonathan Drakes.

The two put on a second wickets stand of 228 as Johann Layne and Joshua Bishop claimed four wickets each… At dinner the West Indies Academy were 158 for 5 in their second innings, still 184 runs behind.
