Jamaica Suffers Second Straight Defeat in WI Women’s Tournament

Champions Jamaica suffered a second straight defeat at the West Indies CG United women’s Super 50 tournament, going down by 54 runs to Barbados at Conaree.

Barbados first made 199 for 3 from their 50 overs. Asabi Callender made 54 and Naijanni Cumberbatch 39 against Vanessa Watts 2 for 39

In reply Jamaica were bowled out for 145 in 44.3 overs as captain Rashada Williams 48 and Stafanie Taylor 31 scored most runs.

Keila Elliott claimed 4 for 27 and Shamillia Connell 3 for 24.

Jamaica will next be in action against the Leeward Islands on Monday.

The Leeward Islands suffered a third straight defeat, they lost by a crushing 122 runs to Guyana at Warner Park.

The Leewards were skittled out for 56 in 24 overs after they were set 179 or victory.

Ashmini Munisar claimed 4 for 27, while Plaffiana Millington and Cherry-Ann Fraser bagged 3 apiece.

Guyana’s total of 178 was built around captain Shemaine Campbelle 77 not out, Realeanna Grimmond 30 and Munisar 30.

At St. Paul’s, Trinidad and Tobago registered a 9 wicket win over the Windward Islands.

The Trinis raced to 71 for 1 in just 14 overs after bowling out the Windwards for 70.
