Jamaica take aim at Little League World Series spot

JAMAICA LITTLE League Baseball has completed the selection of the combined team that will represent the island at the 2025 Caribbean Little League Major Division Regional Tournament.

The tournament will be held in Curaçao from July 6 to 13. The winner of the tournament will earn the right to represent the Caribbean at the 2025 Little League World Series, which will be held at the Little League Baseball International headquarters and facilities in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in August.

A total of 10 teams from across the Caribbean region are expected to compete in the tournament. To date, the following teams have registered to participate: Aruba, Bonaire, Cuba, Curaçao A and B, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Saint Martin.

The team travelling to Curaçao will consist of 13 boys and one girl, ages 10 to 12 years. The Jamaican contingent will include 14 players, one team manager, two coaches, two delegates, and one umpire.

Players and team officials were selected from the Jessie Ripoll, Clan Carthy and Discovery Bay Dolphins little league programmes.

Team practices are held on alternate Saturdays at Jessie Ripoll Primary School field in Kingston and at the Discovery Bauxite Sports Complex in Discovery Bay, St Ann.

The team will be officially announced during practice today at the Discovery Bauxite Sports Complex.

The session will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m.
