Jamaica will face New Zealand in the Davis Cup of Tennis Group-2 Play-offs at the Eric Bell National Tennis Centre in Kingston, next year.
The tie is scheduled in the week directly after the Australia Open and will mean plenty of travel for the New Zealand players.
The New Zealand team of Rubin Statham, KP Pannu, Ajeet Rai, Finn Reynolds, Jack Loutit and Marcus Daniell was beaten at home in September by Luxembourg 2-3.
Jamaica has two ranked players in singles, Blaise Bricknell at 479 and John Chin at 1608. Dustin Brown is a former top 100 doubles player, but is currently 225, while Chin is below 2000.
Jamaica lost to Barbados in the World Group-2 Play-offs at home in February
New Zealand has never played Jamaica before. However, they did defeat a Caribbean combined team in the early 1970’s.
