Jamaica finished top of the Carifta Games medal table for a 39th straight year and for the 45th time overall, as the 2025 staging ended at Hasley Crawford Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago on Monday.

Jamaica bagged 30 gold, 27 silver and 21 bronze for a total of 78 medals, five fewer than last year.

They finished well ahead of second place Bahamas, with 37 medals, and Trinidad and Tobago third, with 21. Grenada and Antigua and Barbuda rounded out the top five.

Calabar’s Kamari Kennedy was one of the standouts on Monday’s final day with a record 60.87 metres to win the under-17 boys discus. All five of his throws were over the old record.

It was Kennedy’s second gold at the games, having won the shot put title on Sunday, also in record-breaking fashion. Kennedy was later named winner of the Austin Sealy Award for most outstanding athlete of the meet.

Shanoya Douglas completed the under-20 girls sprint double after landing the 200m in 23.02 seconds, beating Sabrina Dockery into third 23.45 seconds.

She copped a third gold medal when she anchored the under-20 girls 4x400m relay team to victory in 3:37.75.

Douglas ended with four gold medals, as she was a member of the winning under-20 sprint and mile relay teams. She was one of two athletes at the meet to win four gold, along with Egan Neely of the Bahamas.

The under-17 girls title also went to Jamaica in 3:39.39.

Jamaica had mixed results among the boys, as while the under-20’s won gold in 3:07.44, the under-17’s had to settle for silver in 3:13.28.
